Individual Psychotherapy

Individual therapy is tailored to each client's strengths and needs. Treatments include but are not limited to: EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Sex Therapy, and Schema Therapy.  Additionally, the process can include between session phone consultations to help the individual generalize skills in their natural environment or to offer therapeutic support.  Individual therapy offers clients clarity and accountability in goal setting, structure in processing and self reflecting to gain further insight, and assists in finding ways to work through obstacles and stuck points.  There may also be a particular focus on helping clients find ways to create and maintain friendship and/or romantic relationships.

Group Therapy

In group therapy, five to ten people meet face-to-face with one or more trained group therapists and talk about what is troubling them. Members also give feedback to each other by expressing their own feelings about what someone says or does. This interaction gives group members an opportunity to try out new ways of behaving and to learn more about the way they interact with others. What makes the situation unique is that it is a closed and safe system. The content of the group sessions is confidential; what members talk about or disclose is not discussed outside the group.

Couples Therapy &

Sex Therapy

The couple's therapy treatment approaches utilized are considered to be the most effective and empirically sound modalities being offered today.  These include but are not limited to The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).  Couples are taught specific ways of improving communication, connection, and decreasing forms of reactive conflict.  Your therapist will work with you to create a safe container for discussing perpetual problems that arise over time.  In doing so, couple's will learn how to decrease unhelpful approaches when discussing core issues.

Sex Therapy can be addressed with individuals, or with a couple.  We work with all sexual disorders (e.g. erectile, desire, and arousal concerns, fetishes, paraphilias, compulsive sexual behaviors, unique sexual expressions, sexual identity issues, etc.)  Our approach honors each individual's unique sexual fingerprint and encourage sex positivity.

Dialectical Behavior

Therapy

DBT is designed to decrease maladaptive patterns of behavior while increasing skills in self-management, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. The emphasis is to enhance the client’s capabilities in using behavioral
skills while increasing their overall quality of life, and is similar to stress management, and relapse prevention therapies. DBT is the best practice treatment for individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and has been proven efficacious in treating substance abuse, eating disorders and other compulsive behaviors. Programs are available for adults and adolescents. Not all DBT programs are alike and offer the comprehensive model in it's researched form.  Psychotherapy Innovations uses the comprehensive model which consists of four primary modes of treatment: individual therapy, group skills training, phone coaching, and a consultation team approach for the therapists.
